Nesta oficina dividida em duas sessões, vamos trabalhar com argilas selvagens recolhidas e preparadas manualmente - um processo que é também um reencontro entre o território, a intuição e o fazer ancestral.
A experiência combina criação de peças, partilha de saberes, cozedura a céu aberto e conversa à volta do fogo com almoço.
Sessão 1/2 | Mãos na Terra
Partindo de uma prática contínua de recolha e preparação manual de argilas selvagens, esta sessão inicia-se com a partilha de um processo que é também uma forma de escuta ao território.
Através de uma abordagem sensível e experimental, será apresentado um conjunto de barros recolhidos em diferentes zonas do país que evidenciam as suas características específicas e dão a conhecer a diversidade do nosso solo.
Segue-se um momento de experimentação, onde cada participante é convidado a criar peças simples, como pequenas taças ou pratos, pequenas esculturas ou vasos decoradas com elementos naturais e engobes.
Como gesto ritual e coletivo, propõe-se também a criação de um “Kiln God”, pequena figura simbólica que acompanhará a cozedura das peças, que as protegerá durante a queima.
Sessão 2/2 | O fogo como elemento transformador
Com as peças já secas, entramos no segundo momento da oficina: a construção de um forno artesanal ao ar livre e o início de uma cozedura suenga — uma técnica ancestral em que a chama, o fumo, o tempo e os elementos guiam o processo. Nesta cozedura, não há controlo absoluto, o fogo imprime-se sobre as peças de forma imprevisível, deixando marcas únicas.
Enquanto o fogo trabalha, partilhamos um almoço e uma conversa aberta com Andreia Pinho, artista convidada e Inês Barracha a mentora do projeto [CAL-DAY-RAH-DAH]. Este momento informal é também uma oportunidade de escuta e troca, sobre técnicas alternativas, processos de recolha e de investigação.
Andreia partilhará o percurso que vem desenvolvendo desde 2019 em torno das argilas selvagens, recolhidas e preparadas manualmente e da cerâmica enquanto prática de ligação entre corpo, o território, a memória coletiva e o imaginário popular.
Uma vez mais cada participante será convidado a celebrar um ritual pessoal oferecendo ao fogo e à terra um “desejo semente” com a esperança que brote viçoso com a chegada do novo ano (pagão).

In this two-part workshop, we will work with wild clays gathered and prepared by hand — a process that is also a reunion between the land, intuition, and ancestral making.
The experience combines the creation of ceramic pieces, the sharing of knowledge, open-air firing, and a fireside lunch and conversation.
Session 1/2 | Hands in the Earth
Starting from a continuous practice of collecting and hand-preparing wild clays, this session begins with the sharing of a process that is also a form of listening to the land.
Through a sensitive and experimental approach, a collection of clays gathered from different regions of the country will be presented, revealing their specific characteristics and the diversity of our soil.
This will be followed by a hands-on moment, where each participant is invited to create simple pieces — small bowls or plates, small sculptures, or vases decorated with natural elements and slips.
As a ritual and collective gesture, participants are also invited to create a “Kiln God”, a small symbolic figure that will accompany the firing, protecting the pieces during the burn.
Session 2/2 | Fire as a Transformative Element
With the pieces now dry, we enter the second part of the workshop: the building of a handmade outdoor kiln and the beginning of a suenga firing — an ancestral technique in which flame, smoke, time, and the elements guide the process.
In this firing, there is no absolute control — the fire leaves its imprint on the pieces in unpredictable ways, creating unique marks.
While the fire works, we will share a meal and an open conversation with Andreia Pinho, guest artist, and Inês Barracha, mentor of the project [CAL-DAY-RAH-DAH].
This informal gathering is also an opportunity for listening and exchange, touching on alternative techniques, processes of collection, and artistic research.
Andreia will share the path she has been developing since 2019 around wild clays — collected and prepared by hand — and ceramics as a practice of connection between body, land, collective memory, and popular imagination.
Once again, each participant will be invited to celebrate a personal ritual, offering to the fire and the earth a “seed wish” — a symbolic gesture of hope that it may sprout strong and vibrant with the arrival of the (pagan) new year.
